Research with two material variations on two layers for the development of a textile material in 3D printing.

PLA / TPU

Square sample where dense black stitches form a broad hourglass across a translucent ground.

Square sample patterned with interlocking triangles, dark rows alternating with open ones.

Macro of the structure: straight filaments with beads of black gathering into a drift.

Sample dark and dense along both vertical edges, thinning to near transparent at the centre.

Concentric squares from a dense black border to a pale middle, the rows setting up moire.

A square of even dark knit, one continuous loop structure with no break in pattern.

A small folded cube of the fabric held to a window, rooftops and a spire behind.

The same cube opened flat into a cross, backlit so the pattern reads through it.

The mesh coming off the bed under the print head, its cut-out shape half finished.

The cube under a desk lamp, the weave glowing gold around dark patches.
